Bosco ‘Milan’ 2017, Hesag, Ranchi

Ranchi, Hatia, September 27, 2017: Youth from 4 States namely Chattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal gathered at Don Bosco Youth Centre Hesag, Ranchi,  the three day annual youth fest, ‘Bosco Milan’ held from 27th to 29th September, numbered a thousand in all including 22 Salesians, 5 Salesian Sisters, 2 MHMHC Sisters and the coordinators from 15 different centers. The Conveners of Bosco Milan 2017 were Fr. Bhushan Paul SDB and Fr. Samir Tirkey SDB.

Mr Hemant Soren, a young leader of the Opposition Party of the Jharkhand Government, inaugurated and declared the Bosco Milan 2017 open. The Guests of honour were Fr. Naresh, the Vice Provincial of INN and Fr. Hillarius the Rector of Don Bosco Youth Center, Hesag. The Chief Guest exhorted the youth to be vigilant towards their duties and aim high in life.

The activities of Bosco Milan were spiritual, educative and entertaining. After the inauguration function the rosary was prayed at 5.00 pm and followed by Bible and Don Bosco quiz competition. The winners of the quiz competition were Hesag Parish, Bariatu Parish and Bichna Parish who stood 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively.  After supper the camp fire was organized by Fr. Nazarius Dung Dung which was followed by an inspiring good night talk given by Fr. Samir at 10.30 pm.

The second day began with the meditation conducted by Fr. Bhushan followed by Holy Eucharist presided over by  Fr. Ashok Kujur. His reflection on the chosen Gospel ‘The Rich Young Man’ was inspiring and motivational inviting the youth to take commitment for the good cause. The first session  of the day was by Mr. Gladson Dung Dung a well-known Human Rights Activist and a renowned writer who hails from  Ranchi. He spoke on government schemes and plans for the minorities in India and their effects on youth of the nation and Chotanagpur in particular. After his enlightening session games were conducted before the lunch break. The adivasi cultural dance competition was one of the awaited moments of Bosco Milan.  After the lunch break the awaited event was the Adivasi Cultural Dance Competition. The Don Bosco parish Bariatu carried away the 1st Prize, Kuarmunda 2nd prize and Hesag parish 3rd prize.

The day ended with spiritual renewal through the sacrament of reconciliation administered by 12 priests which was followed by the solemn celebration of the holy Eucharist. climax of Bosco Milan 2017 was the Celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. The lively Marian Night after supper was a fitting moment to end the day with a note of gratitude.

The third day commenced with a meditation and Holy Eucharist was presided over by Fr. Naresh, the Vice Provincial. In his sermon he invited all the youth to bring about change in the society by changing oneself. The participants rearranged the places for the last event of Bosco Milan namely closing ceremony. The Chief Guest for this significant function was Mr. Briz Minz, the President from Khijri Block, Ranchi. In the overall performance Kokar, Jamtoli and Gumla stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. Eventually the Bosco Milan Flag was lowered and handed over to Fr. Pradeep Tirkey, a representative of Odisha Region. Bosco Milan 2017 was concluded with a Hymn to Don Bosco.
