VOCATIONAL ACCOMPANIMENT OF THE YOUNG OF SOUTH ASIA

Vocational Dimension Coordinators meet of South Asian Region was held at Don Bosco Provincial House, Chennai, from 27th & 28th September, 2019. Around 15 Salesians gathered together to reflect on the theme “Vocational Accompaniment of the Young” and were provoked to move ahead enthusiastically in working for the young to help them to make choices in their life.
The various sessions animated by eminent Salesians like Fr. Joe Andrew on ‘Understanding Salesian Vocational Accompaniment: its challenges and perspectives’, Fr. Paulraj on ‘Accompaniment and Counselling,’ Fr. Thamburaj on ‘Introducing the National Job Placement Cell,’ Fr. Maria Charles on ‘DBYA an Overview’ and Fr. Jerome Vallabaraj on ‘Vocational Dimension from the point of Salesian Pedagogy’ gave lots of insights to the participants. Fr. Maria Arokiam Kanaga, the Regional Superior of South Asia in his homily stressed on vocational Guidance and promotion of vocations in our Salesian Ministry.
Fr. Fabio Attard, General Councilor of Youth Ministry, interacted and encouraged the participants via the video conference. The sharing of experiences in the area of Vocational Dimension in different provinces was very enlightening and thought provoking. Lots of work has been done but still the true spirit of the vocational Dimension has to be understood and implemented personally by every Salesian. Vocation Guidance is the mission of every Salesian. Fr. Gabriel Karunaraj (INT), the new national South Asian Delegate of vocational Guidance coordinated the meeting extremely well.
