AGAINST COVID-19, WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER IN SOLIDARITY

The Salesian Province of New Delhi responded to Covid-19 with a simple mission of making sure that no one should have to sleep hungry. In the midst of the on-going pandemic, social distancing is a luxury that millions of migrant labourers who make the informal workforce of North India cannot afford. Several families are sleeping hungry in their small homes, stranded at public places, state borders and roads. To support these marginalized people, the communities of the Salesian Province of New Delhi provided ration and nutritious cooked meals during the past days since the Covid-19 crisis began. Children were provided with food, milk, biscuits, fruits and even kheer. We have also provided masks, soap and sanitizers to those in high risk areas. Awareness programmes were conducted by BOSCO DELHI in some slums. Communities are working with local government authorities to make this a reality.

During the past months the Province with initiatives from all the communities in different States of North India under the banner of BOSCO DELHI provided meals to more than 71008 individuals. The solidarity initiatives have benefitted 13745 families in need.

Against COVID-19, we are stronger together. We shall overcome this crisis with solidarity.
