India’s Covid-19 count crossed 3.80 lakhs with highest spike of 13,586 cases in a single day. India registered over 10000 cases for the eighth day in a row. The country has witnessed a surge of 189997 infections from 1st to 19th June, 2020 with Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh among the top five states that have seen a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases.
Since the beginning of the pandemic in India, through the lockdown period and still today, Don Bosco Ashalayam, New Delhi did not stop or pause; they continued their relief works. Ashalayam’s readiness is a direct result of the sensitivity and good will of the whole team under the leadership of Fr. Swanoop Choudhury.
Don Bosco Ashalayam, New Delhi presents a statistical report of services provided to the people during the last 82 days from 29th March, 2020 to 18th June, 2020. Over 35000 deserving individuals have benefitted from their relief works. Ashalayam has provided cooked food, dry ration, eggs, milk, fruits, masks and bathing soaps to the poor of Delhi. They have also provided transport facilities to migrant workers from Bihar. Their latest initiative includes distribution of food, fruits and water to the travellers who are journeying back to their home towns by trains. This was done by Don Bosco Ashalayam Railway Childline, Anand Vihar, New Delhi, under the leadership of the Coordinator Mr. Bhim Kumar, along with Railway Police Force.
Ashalayam expresses their sentiments of sincere gratitude to all for the support, concern and encouragement. They acknowledge the sacrifices of many generous individuals in supporting them to support the needy.
