Past Pupils Association of Don Bosco, Alaknanda, did the first Facebook Live event on Covid-19 with Dr. Sai Kiran Chaudhuri on Sunday, 12th July, 2020. Dr. Sai Kiran Chaudhuri, a leading Pulmonologist with 24 years of medical experience, heads the Pulmonology Department at Delhi Heart and Lung Institute.
Fr. Davis Maniparamben commenced the event by welcoming Dr. Chaudhuri and appreciating the initiative of the Alumni. Dr. Sai Kiran Chaudhuri spoke about various aspects of Covid including precautions, detailed discussion on symptoms, testing, role of various drugs, prevention and post-discharge management.
A considerable time was spent in answering viewer’s questions covering areas related to dialysis, depression, children, asthma, diabetes, hospitalization and insurance in relation to Covid. Considering the overwhelming response, event time was extended by 30 minutes.
Other participants in the event were Alumni President, Dr. Kenshuk Marwah and Secretary, Mr. Varun Sawhney. Towards the end Dr. Kenshuk gave a brief presentation on the activities of Past Pupils over last 10 months. The Alumni has been running a food programme for poor children, distributing about 2500 meals during lockdown period. They have conducted a blood donation and free Thalassemia testing camp, a free eye checkup and distributed 100 PPE kits.
The informative event garnered approximately 1,700 views on Facebook and was well received by the community with words of appreciation coming from various corners including Fr. Babu Varghese, Mr. Ketan Gala (National President of the Alumni) and many teachers and past students.
