St. John Bosco Parish, Bichna situated in Khunti Diocese, Jharkahand has 10 units consisting of 19 villages. Though the people of this area live a simple lifestyle, gradual economic development is taking place. The parishioners are generous and contributes to the growth of the Church. Bichna has one of the most active and vibrant youth groups in Khunti Diocese. The parish choir consists of youth members has lifted the quality of singing in the Church. Gradually the group has grown with a strength of 500 registered members.
The elections of the leaders of the Youth group took place on 6th December 2020 and a new Youth Parish Committee was formed. The Youth Christmas Gathering on 19th December 2020 was one of the biggest youth gatherings in this year in which more than 300 youth participated. The dance and singing competition gave the youth an open platform for every youth to participate and showcase their God-given talents.
The Youth Picnic on 3rd January, 202, in which about 200 youth participated, was indeed a time of relaxation and enjoyment. Another wonderful moment was the Youth Retreat, which enabled the young people to introspect and evaluate their relationship with God and one another. Mr. Francis Sanga was appointed as Youth representative of Bichna Parish in the Youth team of the New Delhi Province on 29th April 2021.
Bro. Prakash Mallick who was guiding Bosco Youth at Bichna says: “During the past year the youth have tried to grow in all aspects of life. In spite of the challenges of Covid, the youth had moments of enjoyment, moments to explore their qualities, moments to have God experience, and moments to exercise their leadership qualities.
