South Asia formation commission meeting in Kolkata
The Annual Meeting of the South Asia Formation Commission (SAFC) took place in Kolkata from July 31 to August 3, 2024, under the leadership of Fr. Vijay Soy. The meeting brought together formation leaders and delegates from across South Asia to discuss key topics related to the formation process, share experiences, and explore strategies for enhancing the quality of formation programs.
Participants engaged in workshops, discussions, and collaborative sessions aimed at addressing current challenges in formation and promoting best practices. The agenda included reflections on spiritual development, community building, and the integration of modern methodologies in formation. The meeting concluded with actionable plans and commitments to strengthen the formation process across the region. Overall, the event fostered a spirit of unity and collaboration among participants, reinforcing their shared mission in formation work.
YaR (Young at Risk) leaders orientation program
The YaR Leaders Orientation Program was successfully conducted in New Delhi from July 29 to 31, 2024, with 38 participants in attendance. This program aimed to equip leaders with essential knowledge and skills related to working with Young at Risk (YaR) individuals.
During the three-day orientation, participants received comprehensive training on various aspects of the YaR framework, including insights into the Child Care Institutions (CCI), the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act, and the needs of juvenile children. Experts facilitated workshops and discussions, providing valuable information and practical strategies for effectively supporting at-risk youth.
The program fostered an engaging environment for networking and collaboration among participants, enhancing their understanding of the challenges faced by young individuals in vulnerable situations. By the end of the orientation, participants left with renewed motivation and a clear vision for implementing their learning in their respective communities. Overall, the event was instrumental in strengthening the capacity of leaders working with YaR populations.
Strategic Leadership Summit: Administrators' Meeting at Provincial House, Delhi
The Meeting of Administrators convened at the Don Bosco Provincial House from July 8 to 10, 2024, gathering key administrators from various sectors to discuss strategic planning and operational effectiveness. The three-day meeting featured presentations on current projects, financial management, and best practices for enhancing administrative efficiency.
Participants engaged in collaborative discussions, focusing on challenges faced by their respective areas and brainstorming solutions to improve service delivery. The agenda also included workshops aimed at fostering leadership skills and promoting teamwork among administrators.
The meeting concluded with action plans for upcoming projects and initiatives, emphasizing the importance of aligning administrative efforts with the overall mission of the INN Province. Overall, the gathering was a productive platform for sharing insights and strengthening administrative frameworks within the organization.
"Fostering Collaborative Leadership: Navigating Challenges and Opportunities in the INN Province"
The Rectors & Leaders Meeting held from July 13-15, 2024, at the Don Bosco Provincial House brought together leaders from the INN Province for a weekend of collaboration and reflection. The event featured discussions on best practices and community initiatives, with a focus on fostering collaborative leadership. Participants engaged in spiritual reflections on Sunday, reinforcing their mission-driven approach. The gathering concluded with the Province Level Jubilee Celebrations, where achievements were acknowledged, and the collective journey of the INN Province was celebrated, inspiring leaders to continue their commitment to community empowerment and future initiatives.
"Empowering Parish Priests: Embracing Prayer and Synodality for Effective Ministry"
“Pray as Jesus prayed” was the central point of focus in the animation programme for the parish priests held at Bariatu, Jharkhand on 22nd and 23rd July, 2024. There were 14 members together with Fr. Davis Maniparamben, the Provincial, Fr. Vijay Soy, the Vice Provincial, Fr. Shilanand Kerketta, the Youth Ministry Delegate and Fr. Sajin Kollamkudy the Provincial Economer and Fr. Pradeep Tirkey, the Provincial Coordinator of Parishes and Mission. We involved ourselves in seriously discussing the matter related to the parish ministry. Fr. Vijay Soy, the Vice Provincial celebrated the Holy Eucharist and inspired us to be courageous and strong in faith. Fr. Ajay Xalxo (Rector of St. Albert’s Theological College) gave session on ‘Priesthood a Gift and a Task’ and helped us to understand correctly synodality and pilgrims of hope. Fr. Davis Maniparamben, the Provincial dealt with the theme of the jubilee which is year of prayer. He enlightened us on the booklet prepared for the Year of Prayer titled as ‘Teach us to Pray’ based on the teaching of Pope Francis. The important aspects of prayer life were given stress in order to learn and teach how to pray. Fr. Shilanand Kerketta the Youth Ministry Delegate helped us to implement the suggestions of the extraordinary visitation regarding parish ministry given by Fr. Biju Michael. The practical guidelines for catechesis for the all categories of faithful were underlined. He also helped us to understand the importance of living good community life and engage ourselves in the activities of the oratory. The sharing of the parish activities carried out in different parishes of the province enhanced our passion for the work and encouraged each other to face the challenges that come on the way of ministry. Fr. Pradeep Tirkey, provincial coordinator of Parishes and Mission, encouraged us to implement the practical guidelines offered to us during the animation. He also appreciated the presence of all the parish priests and provincial team and hospitality of the community of Bariatu. The participants felt very satisfied and happy with the programme given for them which would surely be great help in doing parish ministry effectively.
Gathering of Salesian Brothers at Bariatu: Spiritual Renewal and Fraternal Reflection
The Salesian Brothers of New Delhi province had their Annual meeting at Bariatu, Ranchi from 25th to 26th of July 2024. Out of 16 Salesian brothers’ 12 were present for the meeting. Br. Cyriac Kurias, Br. Anthony Tigga, Br. Mathew John and Br. Justin Lakra were absent for the meeting.
The meeting started on 25th morning with Meditation and holy mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Davis M., Provincial. The first session stared at 9.00 AM. Fr. Vice Provincial welcomed all the brothers for the meeting and appreciated all for participating in good number for the meeting. Br. Herman the province delegate welcomed Fr. Provincial for the session on the theme “Teach us to pray”. Fr. Provincial in his talk highlighted the importance of living the Year of Prayer in preparation for Jubilee 2025. During his presentation he emphasized the characteristics of Jubilee year, the Prayer and its essential aspects and the importance of prayer in our life as a religious.
The second session stared at 11.00. Brothers’ Delegate welcomed Fr. Shilanand sdb for the presentation on the topic “Salesian Spirituality –Dream at the age of Nine.” His presentation was very interactive with questions from the brothers. He presented the various components of our Salesian Spirituality through re-reading of dream at the age of 9. In the afternoon session Fr. Shilanand stressed on community living and how we can contribute in building a beautiful community.
In the Evening we had adoration service organized by Br. Herman and Br. Praful praying for the “Religious vacation especially for the Salesian brother vocation”
Second day on 26th we began the day with mediation at 6.30 am. It was followed by Mass presided over by Fr. Vijay Soy the Vice Provincial. The two sessions of the day was spent on discussing the implementation of the Lines of Action of the Salesian brother’s congress and drawing up few relevant lines of Action for our province for the year 2024-25. All the Brothers shared three positive aspect of their Salesain brother vocation thus inspiring and motivating each other.
At the end of the day Br. Joseph Kandulna thanked all the Fathers, brothers and staff of the Bariatu community for their hospitality and for taking care of the things needed for the meeting. Fr. Punit, the Rector of the house, thanked all for their visit and choosing Bariatu for the meeting.
