Robna, one of the villages of Jumaikela parish is 45 KM away from the centre. The village had a long- cherished dream to have a village chapel. That dream came to be true with the blessing of the newly constructed chapel on 25thFebruary, 2022 by Fr. James Jainiwas, Rector and Parish priest of Catholic Ashram, Jumaikela. The chapel is named after the missionary saint, St. Francis Xavier. The day gathered the whole village of Robna and the catholic families of the neibhouring village, Kuldiya who were invited for the feast. His Lordship, Bishop Emmanuel Kerketta, Bishop of Jashpur diocese could not join the festivity on account of his other engagements.
The work of construction for a new chapel was begun on 23rd February 2019. However, on account of lockdown due to the pandemic, the work progressed slowly but certainly. Finally, the chapel was completed under the supervision of catechist of the village Mr. Barnabus Toppo.
The new chapel is a symbol of Christian unity and collaboration in the village. The land for the chapel is donated by Mr. Emil Boghro Xalxo and a mud chapel was built on it in 2011. It is to be noted that 22 families of the village contributed to the building of the church financially and with labour. The masons were the villagers themselves. Generous individuals too came forward to help monetarily. Parish priest too gave his share of help.
The historical day of Robna was fittingly celebrated with a solemn Eucharist presided over by Fr. James Jainiwas, Parish Priest. The celebration of the mass was given a central place through well prepared singing, entrance and offertory dance. The women folk dressed in festive attire added colour to the occasion. Soon after the mass felicitation programme was organized during which the parish priest, the catechist and other prominent members of the Christian community were felicitated with traditional shawls, flowers and gifts. The fellowship meal was served to all the present. This was again prepared by the villagers, a sign of participation and sharing. The day came to a joyous conclusion with the dance in which all took part.
