A one day seminar for the parents of the students of Don Bosco School Jamtoli, Kolebira was organized on Saturday, 12th March, 2022 by the School Management Team. The seminar commenced with the lighting of the lamp and with a prayer service invoking God’s blessings. A good number of the parents of the pupils (Around 150) were gathered for the seminar along with Fr. Cyprian Kullu, the In-Charge, Fr. Jyotish Kindo, the principal and Fr. John Xess, the administrator and the teachers of the school.
Fr. Bimal Bhuiyan was the first speaker of the day. At the very outset, he gave a brief life-sketch of Don Bosco. Fr. Bimal said, “ Don Bosco’s life was full of struggles and hardships. He had to fight with fate and family to get himself educated. His own life experiences made him realize the importance of good education. Therefore, he founded many educational institutions to educate the young boys and girls of his time.”
Fr. John Xess stressed on the importance of a good family atmosphere for the all-round development of a child. “Family is the first school, where a child learns the first initial lessons for life”, he said. Fr. John made the parents aware that their own living styles go a long way to mould the character of the children. Hence, having good values in the family, use of right language, good habits by parents and family members are essential elements for the growth of the children.
Fr. Jyotish Kind, the principal dwelled on the importance of having a good rapport with the parents and School Management. “Education is a three-way process – Children, Parents and School”, he said. He also informed the parents that the school is well equipped with sports facilities and coaching in different sports is already running in the school campus for the interested young people of the school as well as for the local youth. Procurement of other facilities like science labs, library, study centre, gym, children’s park, and musical instruments is also in the pipeline. Hostel facility for girls is already being given by the neighbouring Sisters’ community. “The presence of Don Bosco School Jamtoli will change the face of Kolebira for the better”, Fr. Jyotish Kindo promised in his concluding remark.
The teachers of the school also had the opportunity to share their views for a better student-teacher relationship. The teacher representatives made the parents aware of the importance of following their wards with regard to the checking of diaries, home work copy books, dress and hygiene and regular attendance.
The parents were extremely happy to have an opportunity to interact with the School Managing Committee and the staff. “The entire Kolebira locality is abuzz with the news of the type of new initiatives and activities being conducted in the campus of Don Bosco”, they remarked.
The day’s event ended with a sumptuous tea and snacks for the parents and teachers.
