Colossal Waste to Art Workshop and Exhibition

The World Environment Day 2022 global campaign #OnlyOneEarth calls for transformative changes to policies and choices to enable cleaner, greener and sustainable living in harmony with nature. It focuses on the need to live sustainably in harmony with nature, and our possibilities for shifting to a greener lifestyle through both policies and individual choices.

Keeping in mind the global campaign ‘OnlyOneEarth’, MCD (Municipal Corporation Delhi) Central Zone organized Mega Waste to Art Workshop and Exhibition to commemorate World Environment Day and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav at Don Bosco Technical Institute on June 7, 2022. The programme began at 11.00 a m. Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Danish Ashraf, IAS, was the chief guest for the event.

A number of MCD school children and students from Don Bosco took active part in the exhibition. The chief guest and the participants were welcomed by Dr. Fr. Sajan M George, the Executive Director of Don Bosco. Two Nukad Nataks (street plays) were presented by BCA students of Don Bosco and SDMC (South Delhi Municipal Corporation) school children that conveyed the important message that we need to take care of the earth that we all live in. They also exhibited their artistic creation out of waste materials.

Mr. Danish Ashraf, chief guest visited the exhibits displayed and interacted with the children and students. Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to amateur participants from MCD schools, DBTI and professional artists from Lalit Kala Academy for their unique creation of art pieces. He also addressed the packed audience and commended the participants for their innovative skill in managing and recycling the waste products.

MCD ADE Mr. Dev Nath Mahto too appreciated the effort of the students to celebrate the Environment Day in a fitting manner. The programme ended at 12.40 with snacks for all present., Mr. Subhash Gautam, DDSIL IEC Head, coordinator of the event thanked everyone for the cooperation and collaboration to make the day an enriching and memorable one.
