RECTORS & LEADERS MEET 2022: Walking together for Progress

New Delhi – 12th July, 2022

The Annual Meeting of the Rectors & Leaders of the Salesian Province of Delhi was held from 11th to 13th July, 2022 at Don Bosco Provincial House, Okhla. The Provincial and his Councillors, Coordinators of various commissions and sectors, Rectors & leaders of the communities attended the meeting.

The meeting began on the morning of 11th July, 2022 with a prayer service led by Fr. Pradeep Tirkey. Thereafter, the participants were welcomed by Fr. Varghese Palatty, the Rector of the Provincial House.

Mr. Martin Pinto, the Chartered Accountant who has over twenty years of experience in the field of charitable institutions and educational institutions shared information on Societies’ Registration Act, audit, legal compliances especially regarding income tax, service tax, FCRA, GST, Labour Laws etc. The session was quite interactive and practical. The participants cleared many of their doubts and queries during the three sessions animated by Mr. Pinto.

On the following days, Fr. Biju Abraham, the Economer, gave a detailed report of the financial situation of the province along with the information on new ventures, initiatives and new construction works going on in various communities.

The Youth Ministry Department led by Fr. Shilanand Kerketta along with the Coordinators of the commissions and sectors presented the reports of youth ministry and various sectors of the province.  The commissions and sectors that presented the report were the following – Education and Culutre, Education to Faith, Social Experience, Vocation Guidance, Finance, Formation and Salesian Family, Social Communication, Young @ Risk, School Education, Higher Education, Technical Education, Parishes and Missions, Religious Discipline etc.

The participants also had an opportunity to revisit the OPP (Organic Pastoral Plan) of the province chaired by Fr. Shilanand Kerketta, the Youth Ministry Delegate of the Province.

A session on the ‘Open discussion regarding the state of Province’ was chaired by Fr. Provincial. The group discussions and sharing by all the Rectors and leaders helped the participants to understand the situation of the 27 institutions in the province. The meeting was also an occasion to appreciate and acknowledge the good works carried out by various communities despite financial and other constraints. The meeting ended on a happy note on the eve of 13th July, 2022 as the participants prepared themselves to celebrate the jubilee of 10 confreres of the Province.
