Ranchi, Bariatu, Jharkhand, Oct.21, 2018: This year Bosco Milan 2018 was hosted in Don Bosco youth and Educational services Bariatu. The theme of this Bosco Milan was Health, Harmony, Holiness. It was scheduled from 17th to 20th October. Around 235 youngsters aging from 18 to 35 years, 8 Salesian priests, 2 salesian brothers, 8 sisters, 2 teachers, 11 pre-novices from Jharsuguda who worked as volunteers participated in this event. It was a Salesian Family Venture so the different Salesian communities took part in it with the exemption of Don Bosco Bichna. FMA Sahera, SMI Tagore hill, MSMHC dangratoli and Disciples Kunkuri also took part in this event. All the Salesian communities had given their financial contribution. Some parishners came forward to sponsors for the Bosco Milan. We thank all of them for their generosity.
On 17th the inaugural ceremony and hoisting of the Bosco Milan Flag was done in the presence of Fr. Naresh Kujur SDB, the Vice Provincial of Delhi Province and Fr. Davis Maniparamben SDB the province youth pastoral delegate, Fr. Roshan Tiru, the youth director of Ranchi archdiocese who were the chief guests of the day. After the Bosco Milan was declared open by Fr. Davis, there was a short prayer service in the Sacred Heart Church. After the words welcome by Fr. Ashok Kujur SDB the Rector, Fr. Naresh also read out the message of Fr. Provincial and Fr. Davis Maniparamben delivered the inaugural talk. It was followed by the evening tea break. There were Ice breaking sessions and group division to facilitate the youngsters to intermingle with one another as they were strangers. The masses for different days were celebrated by Fr. Vice Provincial, the New priests and the Archbishop of Ranchi archdiocese. The part of the masses was distributed to different communities for different days.
Fr. Ashok Kujur SDB, Dr. Stephen Xess and Dr. Deepti Kujur , Fr. Peter Mahender SJ, Fr. Deepak Kindo SDB presented their talks on ‘I am a responsible son/daughter’, Health, Harmony, and Holiness respectively. The talks were very well prepared by the speakers. The different institutions had prepared action songs which they used to perform before the sessions to make the participants alive and active during the session. On 18th October there was Bible Skit competition which was well performed by the youth. The youth of Bariatu stood first followed by FMA Sahera and Jumeikela who stood second and third. On 19th the catechism quiz was conducted by Fr. Linus Lakra and his pre- novices for the youth. Again, the youth of Bariatu stood first followed by Kunkari and Jumeikela who stood second and third.
On 19th the youth were also prepared for a good confession by Fr. Deepak Kindo SDB. Majority of the youth shed their tears during confession which was the climax of our programme. Their testimonies were inspiring and heart touching.
On 20th the mass was celebrated by Felix Toppo the archbishop of the diocese. During the Valedictory function the prizes were distributed to the winners. Mr. Kuldeep Tirkey and Miss Sheetal the youth president and vice president of Ranchi archdiocese were also present to handover the prizes and mementos. Fr. Naresh Kujur SDB, the vice provincial and Fr. Davis Maniparamben SDB were present for the concluding ceremony and prize distribution.
While returning home the youngsters had nostalgic feeling how the three days past without their realisation. They were happy to be part of the Bosco Milan 2018.
I thank Fr. Provincial, Fr. Vice Provincial, Fr. Davis Maniparamben SDB, the provincial council, all the Rectors of the communities, all the fathers and sisters who were present during those days. I am grateful to all the youngsters who participated in this Bosco Milan as without their presence this milan were not to be possible.
