Bosco Utsav 2019 – ‘The Cultural Extravaganza’ was held in the school on 28th and 29th November, 2019. These were special days when the Bosconians expressed their gratitude to the Rector and their parents. The event was also a tribute to Don Bosco – ‘The Friend of the Young’ and Gandhiji – ‘The Father of our Nation.’ The celebrations which spanned over two days, allowed almost every child of the school to showcase their talents through the various cultural performances. Don Bosco School, Alaknanda was honoured with the presence of Fr. Naresh Kujur, Fr. Joseph K. A, Fr. Kuriakose Adichirayil, and Fr. Paul Padamattumel for Bosco Utsav 2019.
The school, especially the auditorium was tastefully adorned and was an imposing sight. The guests and dignitaries were given a warm welcome with the traditional ‘tilak’. Each celebration began with the welcome and felicitation of the Chief Guests and other distinguished guests, followed by the lighting of the lamp and a floral tribute to two extraordinary souls, Don Bosco and Mahatma Gandhi. The vibrant and enthralling performances by the students in all events were a visual delight. The presentations conveyed strong social messages like respect for elders, integration through love and harmony, taking care of the environment etc. A few items depicted Gandhiji as an apostle of peace through the various phases of his life. Some items portrayed the rich cultural heritage of our country. The school also bid farewell to two illustrious teachers who have been the driving force behind several Bosconians for innumerable years, Mrs. Ligy Sebastian and Mrs. Mani Sanger.
Rev. Father Davis Maniparamben, the Principal presented the annual report. He made the audience familiar with the school’s academic and co-curricular activities of the past year. The event ended with Vote of Thanks by members of the school faculty and the National Anthem. The arduous effort of students, staff and the administration for the splendid shows garnered much appreciation from one and all. It was truly a celebration of culture, creativity, art and talent.
