The Social Experience Dimension of the Youth Ministry Department of Salesian Province of New Delhi organized a day long workshop titled ‘GENESIS 2019’ on 11th August, 2019 at Don Bosco Youth and Educational Services, Bariatu, Ranchi.
Fr. Deepak Kindo gave an overview of the day’s programme and Fr. Kapil Toppo welcomed all the participants. The workshop, conducted by Fr. Babu Varghese, Fr. Augustine Toppo and Fr. Deepak Kindo, was attended by sixty-two youth leaders from the Salesian parishes of Jharkhand, Chattisgarh and Orissa. The session made lively with audiovisuals, presented Don Bosco as the most amazing and fascinating saint that history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of the poor young people of Italy has produced astonishing results. The young leaders present were introduced to the Salesians of Don Bosco who are dedicated to the service of young people who are poor and disadvantaged especially in schools, colleges, technical schools, social welfare centres, youth centres, rural welfare centres, street children centres etc. The young people affirmed that Don Bosco, who is a compendium of virtues and has transformed the lives of so many young people in the subcontinent, is much loved in India.
The leaders were introduced to various dimensions of Salesian Youth ministry and were asked to initiate programmes in their own areas for the welfare of young people. They were challenged to be passionate and optimistic like Don Bosco. They were exhorted to initiate various programmes for young people and not to be bogged down by any challenges. Discussions were held within the sub committees to set goals and to increase youth participation and engagement. Certainly, Don Bosco and his Salesian spirit will continue to touch and transform humanity in the days to come.
