Historical Perspective
The house of Kauli began in response to Rt. Rev. Bishop Gilbert Rego’s invitation to begin a Technical School. Salesian presence started in 1993 with the hostel at Rajpura. The diocese donated part of the land for the house. In 1994 the property of Bakeman’s was bought. In 1995, work began for an Agro-oriented Technical Institute. The new building complex was inaugurated on 24th October 2001. The house was canonically erected on 4 June 2003.
Fr. Marangattikala Joy, (M. M.) as the pioneer had done the feasibility study for the project. He bravely put up with a lot of hardships and privations to get this institute started and fathered it to its present stage. Frs. James Jainiwas, James Pazhayampallil, Edward Dang, Varkey Padmattumel and several other young Salesians shared with Fr. Joy in this arduous task. SCJM sisters assist the Salesians in the apostolate.
In May 1998, work began on the new building for the Technical Institute. The foundation stone for the same was blessed on 8th September, 1998.
The new building complex was inaugurated on 24th October 2001 by his Excellency, Guy Trouveroy, the Ambassador of Belgium. It was blessed by Bishop Gerald John Mathias in the presence of Fr. Provincial, Fr. K. A. Joseph and many well-wishers.
