New Delhi, Okhla, August 20, 2018: The meeting of Rectors and Leaders was held from 17th to 18th August 2018 at Provincial house New Delhi. All the rectors from 27 houses of New Delhi Province participated actively in the meeting.
August 17, 2018: Fr. Joy S.J. with his knowledge of the law and expertise gave a presentation on the Indian constitution and the explanations of the fundamental rights, the practical aspects of and filing an FIR, the explanation of the major criminal acts (Cr PC, IPC, Indian Evidence Act), the minority rights, .
August 18, 2018: Fr. Jose Mathew the provincial of New Delhi presented the situation of the province. Fr. Provincial taking up the letter of the rector major approving the observations and recommendations of the extraordinary visitor, discussed point by point and asked the opinions and the observations of the rectors and leader. Fr. Provincial warned that adhering to our institutional model of life and ministry will eventually lead to the death of life and ministry. He spoke of the need to go out to undertake ministries and take various initiatives.
August 19, 2018: Fr. PO Jose animated the Rectors and Leaders to understand the 28th General Chapter Theme: What Kind of Salesians for the Youth of Today? He gave out the handouts containing the itinerary of eighth provincial chapter and the grouping of the Salesian communities for the purpose of the election of the local delegates to the provincial chapter.
Fr. Joe Arimpoor in his session, made the rectors and leaders aware of the principles of child abuse- Physical, emotional sexual abuse, child neglect, child protection, child trafficking and children in need of care and protection.
Fr. Provincial exhorted to the leaders to make a generous contribution in solidarity to the people of Kerala for the flood relief. Suggestions were asked and it was decided that each community on their own will decide an amount and send it to the development office of the Province.
