SEASON OF CREATION: JUBILEE FOR THE EARTH

As followers of Christ from around the globe, we share a common role as caretakers of God’s creation. We see that our wellbeing is interwoven with its wellbeing. This year, the theme for the Season of Creation is “Jubilee for the Earth: New Rhythms, New Hope”. You are invited to consider the integral relationship between the earth and ecological, economic, social and political ways of living. This particular year, the need for the just and sustainable systems has been revealed by the far-reaching effects of the global Covid-19 pandemic.

During the Season of Creation, we pray and act to protect God’s creation. The season begins on September 1 – Day of Prayer for Creation, and runs through October 4 – Feast of St. Francis, who is the patron saint of ecology in many traditions. We all will protect creation by ongoing prayers, changes in lifestyle, doing hands-on projects and advocacy.

Along with the whole Church, we as are inspired by the urgent call from Pope Francis ‘Laudato Si’, for a new dialogue on how we are shaping the future of our planet and we require a new and universal solidarity where the utmost vulnerable are supported and to enable them to live in dignity. The Youth Ministry Department will help you to learn more about the Season of creation and support you by providing animation materials, prayer services and giving suggestions.
