Salesian Regional Commission of Education and Culture Meet South Asia
A meeting of the Education and Culture commission was held on 26th and 27th July at Don Bosco SPCI House, New Delhi in which 21 participants from all the Salesian Provinces of India and Fr. Maria Charles, South Asian Coordinator for Education and Culture attended. It was a wonderful experience of coming together and sharing the developments and the success stories of various provinces. It helped each one to learn from the other in order to leap ahead.
On 26th July the morning sessions were dedicated to the discussion on the new draft of National Education Policy. Fr. Joseph Manipadam SDB delivered an insightful presentation about the National Education Policy and the response of the Church to the same. The later part of the day was spent on the Review of Don Bosco Schools for Excellence which included the presentation of Don Bosco Accreditation and Assessment Policy and setting up AIDBES Accreditation Board. The evening session was spent on the study conducted on Don Bosco principals which revealed that there is transformative leadership among the Salesians in a great way.
The second day of the meeting was spent on presentation of the works and plans by the Education and Culture commission in various provinces. It was a wonderful, insightful and enriching sharing. The sharing helped all to know the various initiatives taken in the provinces and how some of the issues in the schools and educational institutions were dealt with. The meeting was concluded with the exhortation to make the Don Bosco Schools stand apart, and to work together to achieve this aim.
